He understood how important speaking English would be, and began exploring more effective, personalized ways to learn with the best tutors, regardless of location. Graduating from Techstars marked Preply’s first major milestone in international growth. Expanding globally Preply scaled rapidly into a truly global marketplace for learners and tutors. The platform evolved beyond discovery, launching core tutor tools including scheduling, calendar booking, and an integrated video classroom. Preply raised a $5M Seed round led by Point Nine Capital with leading European and US angels, accelerating international growth. Leading the category Preply raised over $150M across Series A, B, and C from Owl Ventures, Horizon Capital, Hoxton Ventures, Full In Partners, Diligent Capital Partners, and others.
