WIndows 10 Enterprise demands I "use language list" for keyboard selection
发布时间:2026-10-29 | 浏览:1
This is a Thinkpad laptop running Windows 10 Enterprise build 1803.
The system is functionally set to "English" and works correctly, however the laptop has a German keyboard.
When I go to Settings | Region and Language | Advanced keyboard settings it always has "Use language list" as the choice for keyboard (drop-down choices are between German and English). No matter how many times I change this to "German", it always changes itself to "Use language list".
This is a small irritant since this means the English keyboard is always defaulted to when I boot the laptop, and if I don't remember to change the (rad nabbit!!) keyboard I fail my first login or two.

Anonymous 2019-02-10T19:12:23+00:00 Thanks for the reply. So, I ONLY want this to effect the keyboard default language selection (German KBD first) - but not any other aspect of language. I need English to be the default language for everything else. Will the above commands do this? Thanks! 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2019-02-03T14:31:49+00:00 Hi Michael Have you tried upgrading to the latest Windows 10 1809 release to see if it works? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik... Also... Try setting Swedish as your preferred language using steps mentioned here: Right click Start Button or press Windows + X keys and select Windows PowerShell (Admin). In the administrative Windows PowerShell window, type these commands one-by-one and press Enter key after each: Get-WinUserLanguageList This will display list of installed languages on your machine. Note the LanguageTag for your preferred language. $1=New-WinUserLanguageList <LanguageTag> Replace <LanguageTag> for your preferred language. For example, if your preferred language is English (United States), then you can use $1=New-WinUserLanguageList en-US. Set-WinUserLanguageList $1 After this, when opted, type Y to confirm setting preferred language. Close Windows PowerShell and you're done. 0 comments No comments
